Step 7. Now let’s add some depth and interest to the map. We’ll start by applying a drop shadow. (If you’re not using Photoshop 5.0 or 5.5 you’ll need to add the drop shadow manually.)

Choose Layer > Effects > Drop Shadow. In the Effects dialog box change the options until you’re satisfied with the results. Be sure to check the Preview box so you can see the shadow as you adjust the options. I chose the defaults. When you’re satisfied, click OK.
